We communicate to the world Square’s mission to make commerce easy, and how we empower sellers with beautifully simple tools that give them an advantage where they previously and unfairly had none.
Square is seeking an extraordinary senior leader to be our Head of Product Communications. Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will work closely with senior leadership and teams across Square, including product, engineering, hardware, marketing, business, sales, and customer support.
You will:
Lead Square’s seller product communications team, setting communications strategy and executing creative campaigns that highlight our sellers, our products, and our company.
Counsel cross-functional partners in engineering, product, business, and other teams on communications considerations for product development and marketing/partnership opportunities
Oversee launches and announcements for all Square seller-facing services across hardware and software, including our flagship products (Square Reader, Square Register) and other growing financial and marketing services, like Square Capital
Lead ongoing media relations related to our seller products; develop and maintain strong working relationships with key consumer, trade, technology, and business press, both locally and nationally
Develop written materials, including company messaging and statements, communications plans, press releases, blog posts, FAQs, and other collateral
You have:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
A minimum 15 years relevant work experience (or 12 years and a graduate degree), either at a PR agency or on an in-house communications team
Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
An understanding of the bigger-picture and a knack for advancing company narratives in the down-cycles between launches
The ability to build trust within a team and work effectively leading high-performers in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
Strong and prolific writing and editing skills
Skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing and executing simultaneous projects and activities
A self-starter attitude: you instinctively and consistently create personal and professional stretch goals and meet them
Curiosity, creative thinking, and a sense of humor
An appreciation of the Oxford comma
